Two-Day Performance (Fighting the Current)
The current: modern / prevailing / circulating / rampant / progression / flux
Amanda Grae Platner will be performing Fighting the Current, a two-day performance September 7th – 8th, 2018, at Blue Mark Studios. Accompanied by painting and video installations, she will be performing 16 hours each day in the gallery. Amanda’s work deals with the positive adaptation of stress, uncontrollable situations, and determination through challenge. The audience will be encouraged to participate by disrupting the work flow through manipulation of her movements.
Fighting can be strength- standing up with determination to overcome, facilitate change, and force progress. Conversely, we can settle- resolve to give in, give up, or succumb to the current [state of events]. Our personal lives, as well as our local and global communities, are saturated with a constant tide of stressors, creating a continual need to choose the level of our involvement with progress, our level of fight.
